NaPoWriMo Day 8! The prompt for today was to construct a poem with any technical jargon or slang word as the central metaphor. I took liberty with the prompt and incorporated three such words in the field of photography: hard light (technique that harshens features), soft light (which softens the features) and golden hour (the best time to take a photo I.e. just before sunrise or after sunset). For me, golden hour symbolises new choices. This poem is also a tribute to the famous poem ‘Road Not Taken’ by Robert Frost. Happy Reading!
8th April
Golden Hour
As I trudged on unmarked trail,
I wonder’d if this choice would fail,
The forest look’d bleak
With its turbulent creek
While branches in hard light curled inwards —
Stark, sharp shards bending towards,
Seeking my perplexed soul.
I hastened my tread,
Each step a burden’d dread.
While shadows flicker’d in soft light
Dancing to songs of wayward sprites.
My heartbeat resounded,
As all doubts resurfaced
Just then,
The forest was set ablaze,
By the ricocheting rays
The fresh start I made seemed clearer,
Life had finally given me an answer —
For I had attained my golden hour.
