NaPoWriMo Day 20! (Woah only 10 days left) Today’s prompt was to write a poem that is grounded in language as it is spoken – not necessarily the grand, dramatic speech but the messy, fractured, slangy way people speak in real life. Additionally we could either incorporate overheard speech or turn of phrase. Basically, do away with ‘poetic speech’.
This prompt went against my very being but I found it really rewarding in the end! I’ve taken a quintessentially Indian phrase, ‘arre yaar’ which is used extensively everywhere and made it certainly amusing to pen down!
Fun Fact: Arre yaar has officially been in the Oxford English Dictionary since 2015! Happy Reading!

I love this; it’s so playful. I so enjoyed the ending. 🙂
